Hey,

I'm just wondering if anyone has this issue about their cosmetics?

I currently use Maxfactor foundation and mascara but have realised (perhaps a little naively and admittedly a little ignorantly) that they test on animals. Even if they claim that they don't, they buy their ingredients from places that do.

Like many women, I've spent the last decade trying loads of different types of foundation and mascara and have finally found ones that don't make me look like I've put my make up on in the dark. But I don't feel that animals should suffer so that I can enhance my eyes or cover up the evidence of a few late nights!

Can anyone give any suggestions of make up that not only doesn't test on animals but is actually quite good. As in mascara that isn't waterproof but doesn't smudge at the hint of rain, or foundation that doesn't need 5 layers to cover up dark circles under the eyes.

I'd still like to use make-up but not be contributing to the needless suffering of animals.

Hi,
Hi,

If it is avoidable I don't use any products that have been tested on animals, and sometimes it sucks as I can't buy products that I'd like to. If it's any help the EU law was changed this year to bring an end to testing on animals for cosmetics (companies have til 2013 to sort themselves out). Personally I still avoid alot of companies because I still want to support brands that CHOSE to be cruelty free not those who fought the law change and will only obey because they have to.

Here's some info about the law change -

In terms of "cruelty free" brands I like some things from Marks and Spencer and Urban Decay/Too Faced are FAB. I love Urban decay "big fatty" mascara. Here's a list of companies that have the BUAV leaping bunny symbol -
