hi all

i posted a little while ago about deciding to go for it and ask my dr anout BA on nhs and ive decided if i cant get it i'll take out as many loans and cards as i need to get it done.

i have a few q's i was hoping people on here could answer - i know i need to ask a consultant really but just to get an idea:

- do you need chest drains?

-do you have to sleep on your back only? and how long for?

- how long do you need to wear a sports bra for?

-when can you wear a real bra and do you have to wear non-wired ones incase they damage the implants?

- when can you exercise after?

- how long does it take for the scars to heal?

- how natural do they feel? (not actually having breasts this is very confusing for me as i dont know what theyre suposed to feel like! i can image theyd be hard? so answers from people who only went up a few sizes/did it after having kids wld be appreciated)

- do they drop after a while? as all before and after pics i've seen they seem very 'sticky out' after

 - can you see the implant outline?

- how long do they last? (used to say 10yrs but now some poeple say longer?)

- how long til im 'back to normal' after the op?

thankyou

Not sure how I miss this one hon....

Firstly - be careful with loans etc....

do you need chest drains?       Some do - some don't! Depends on how much there is fluid wise during the op. First time I didn't Second I did....

-do you have to sleep on your back only? and how long for?

Umm YES!!!! And I think I did for about 6 weeks - my body knew it would hurt but I think its just the first couple of weeks that you should try to sleep on your back.

- how long do you need to wear a sports bra for?

6 weeks - 24/7 day and igt for the first month. then just at night  I wore mine for about 6 mths though - day and night!

-when can you wear a real bra and do you have to wear non-wired ones incase they damage the implants?

Reaol bras are fine after 6 weeks - underwired is fine too. Make sure you're properly fitted though!!!

- when can you exercise after?

Most people - 6 weeks... gentle excerise but you have to be guided by how YOU feel!!

- how long does it take for the scars to heal?

again it varies but a few weeks to close fully then regular massage of bio oil to help the scars fade - that can take its time though...

- how natural do they feel? (not actually having breasts this is very confusing for me as i dont know what theyre suposed to feel like! i can image theyd be hard? so answers from people who only went up a few sizes/did it after having kids wld be appreciated)

Mine feel natural - and look natural. Friends have all had a good grope. I choose tear drop shaped impants to give  a morer natural look tio my cleavage..... Mine were post hildren - they just look like well shaped and firm breasts

- do they drop after a while? as all before and after pics i've seen they seem very 'sticky out' after

Immediately post op they look stuck on - most drop wthin a few weeks - some a few months - to look more natural as the skin heals.

 - can you see the implant outline?

If you can they you will have a capsular contraction - this happens in a small percentage where scar tissue ghardens around the implant - if this happens and its painful the op most likely will need to be redone and you should check to see what their policy is... I have a CC and will be re-op'd in September....

- how long do they last? (used to say 10yrs but now some poeple say longer?)

Deoends on many things - one surgeon thinks longer than 10 years.... It depends on the person. Quality has vastly improved over the years though and many women have been told at least 15y

- how long til im 'back to normal' after the op?

Define normal lol - I couldn't do anything like lift my dd etc for about 6 weeks... You can't drive for 6 weeks... and you need to take it easy but pain wise I was ok within a few days....

I hope this helps - but the best thing to do is book in for the fREE consultation with the surgical nurse at several clinics - ask them all these questions - no doubt you'll get a variety of answers :-)

the driving thing was more a when you feel you can - but it was at least 2 weeks - you don't want to use the muscle too much to avoid build up of sca tissue..

Let m know how the consults go x x x
