I haven't been out for a run since last wednesday, had a crappy week last week and was in no frame of mind to run so promised myself to get back into this week.

Anyway, I seem to have pulled something in my thigh at the front!  Its been a few days now, sometimes it feels like a twinge and I end up limping on it.

I have my 10k race on Sunday...how the hell can I make sure it's ok for then?!?!?

Any advice??

Oh Clare, bad timing!

Mmmm really don't know what you should do as it is difficult to advise when only you can feel the pain.  Does it hurt when you are just walking/standing?  Does it seem to be improving or not?  If not, have you been to see your GP just to check out it is nothing bad?

Sounds like a muscle pull, but I can't advise whether you should run or not.  Have you tried a gentle run to see how it is?  Obviously stopping if it hurts at all?

The only thing I can say is rest rest rest, doing nothing between now and your race will not impact on your performance now anyway, so put your feet up but see the GP if it doesn't get better.

Take care and let us know how you are.

Hi Lucy

It did seem to be improving, enough for me to comtemplate going for a little run today but thought I would leave it until tomorrow to make doubly sure.  Then after my son ran off and I had to chase him I realised the twang was most defo still there!

I have never had this twang (not really a pain) before so not sure why I have it now, the week of my bloody run that I have done all this training for! grrrr how annoying!

I may be hobbling over the finish line - either way I MUST go over it!!

Have you tried arnica?  I find it helps with general recovery from running and certainly for any injuries of any type.
