hi there

i used to be a regular gym go-er, then lost my job so couldnt afford the membership. i have a treadmill so do jogging and walking, and sometimes swim at my local pool.

i bought a bike this summer but its not going to get much use this winter as i find exercising outside when its cold sets off my asthma.

i was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on  weights exercises to do at home to mimic the gym? i want a full body work out but never seem to feel like i've done as much at home as i did when i used the gym, and i think not doing enough strength training might be a reason for this (asd well as missing the cross trainer and rower!)

many thanks

Hi,

I can appreciate how you feel, when you go from having all the facilities at the gym to having to rely on what you have at home must be difficult. But as a non-gym goer I do believe you can get a good workout at home.

If you have a look in the bottom folder there are some resources for resistance training without equipment and a great site with a full range of weight training exercises. I use dumbbells and a barbell at home and have had great results. If cash is an issue I'd have a look to freecycle/freegle you never know what people might be offering in terms of exercise equipment.

sorry this is a rushed answer but my internet is still a bit spotty!

Hiya

I have also started using weights at home.  I use adjustable dumbells, that were orginallly my hubbys!

I've printed a workout from www.about.com   I think the link is in the folder below that Sam mentioned.

If you use your treadmill and weights you should get a good workout.

Also have you thought about DVD's there are loads on the market that use combo of weights and cardio.

Ceri
