Hiya,  I was wondering if anyone has used the wii fit, and if so have you found it has helped your weight loss. I do need to start exercising and thought this may be  good option as I can do it at home. Joining a gym is too expensive and I work shifts so classes are always a bit hit and miss.  If it really isn't worth it what exerise do you recomend, it needs to be fun and suitable for an unfit beginer like me.

I have a Wii fit, and I love it but don't so it regularly enough to notice a boost in weightloss.

I've had a bad foot, that is now on the mend so I am taking up walking again. Walking really works and I lost 9lbs one Lent when I gave up the car and walked & bussed everywhere. This was without any change in my diet.

If you are a beginner you can start a basic walking plan, say 15 mins, and improve from there. I try and aim for 10,000 steps a day: 2,500 to work and the same back and then I try and fit a lunch walk and go for a brisk walk after work to make up the steps.

There are plenty of walking plans online and Joanna Hall is a leading expert in walking for fitness (I did a 2 night spa break with her in March learning walking techniques and it was amazing. It was just a shame that I developed an arthritic joint which has stopped me walking for a few months.

Basically in her book, carb curfew and step counting plan, 10,000 steps equates to 400 cals. So trying to aim for that a day will really boost your weightloss. I also find it very meditative and my walk to work often gives me time to think and problem solve.

With regards to fun I have a punchbag on a springy pole and gloves. It is hilarious and you can really work up a sweat in just 10mins. Great with a good tune!

Hi

I got a Wii Fit (well H got it on a whim as men do) and I think it is *great*, but like any other form of exercise you need the commitment.   I haven't been on it since mid Sept. just because I've not made the effort really - no excuses.

If you are going to get one I would suggest you look on Ebay and get one second hand.

Message: Thanks for the advice, I will look on ebay for one I hadn,t thought of that great idea. I have been walking some lunch hours but its a good idea to do it every day.  I will buy a pedometer and see how many steps I do in a day not many at a guess.
