Hi Guys!!!!

I will catch up with your posts soon but i just wanted to see if anyone else gets like i am at the moment??????? Every Monday i wake up thinking (having a confidence crisis yet again!) that i really DO need to get on board with the programme and get this gain (14lbs) back off again. I plan to start on Wednesday - which i I do (breakfast and lunch) then i get home from work and say 'sod it' to myself - decide its too difficult and plod on until Monday again........... Ive done this to myself for weeks now (probably for the last year almost) and the weeks are really flying in towards Christmas and i would love to be back at my GW and with less than 9 week to go until xmas I can realistically lose 9-18lbs It CAN be done but i dont think ive got it in me to do it :oS

On the plus side our Wii that was broken (the girls had jammed in a Dora DVD!!) has been fixed and DS wants me to start doing the Wii Fit so hopefully i can give myself the kick up the bum i need ***sigh*** I remember what slim feels like - I just need to want it more ..........

Hope you are all doing better than me :o)

Hi,

I don't know your story so there might be an obvious reason for this that I don't know... You get up on a Monday ready to rip, but then wait to start the plan again on Wednesday when you've had 2 days to think about it rather than the Monday when you're ready to go. Is there a rationale to that?

This might sound rude and I really don't mean it to be, but your post sounds alot like you're putting barriers up to your success. Like the wii fit, ok it's broken but there are other things at home you can do even without that (wii jogging is just jogging on the spot after all). Is there something in your mind that might bring about this self sabotage? You've shed this weight before so you know you have it within you to do it, so maybe you also know why things are as they are.

Hi Michelle,

I know exactly where you are coming from. I have been in a similar position for most of this year. I had a brilliant year last year where I managed to maintain within my gold range pretty easily, but I have struggled to even get back into my gold range since last Christmas.

I think the way to think about the next 9 weeks is that you might not get back to goal, but you can have a really good attempt at shifting a good proportion of what you need to before Christmas. That's the mind set I've tried to get into and I'm set to make it through 2 weeks on track which'll be the first time for months that I've managed two weeks in a row.

If I remember correctly, you have been managing to maintain for some time without planning or tracking so that's something to be proud of. YOu could have gone completely off the rails and been constantly gaining, but you've managed to keep enough of a check on things to maintain. That's brilliant in itself.

I'm happy to buddy up with you if you think it will help. No pressure though - just if you think it will help.

Michelle you have perfectly summed me up. The good intentions, the sensible breakfast & lunch and even the 14 pounds.

I always start on a Monday (lol) but today got seduced by a pack of rolo doughnuts and a chocolate ppud & custard whilst in sainsburys earlier today.

I'd be satisfied with just 8 lbs off for Christmas, I am fairly certain I can't get to goal now as the last 5-7 lbs will take me forever, but I could get 8 off, IF I ever found my mojo.

I intend starting in the morning, but who knows how that will pan out

Amanda - excellent suggestions that I'll be taking on board both the aiming to stick to my points for 2 weeks (I too have failed to do so for months) and to avoid goal setting as such for Christmas, just go for losing a chunk of it. Thanks for that, I feel more positive already xxx

Hi Sam

Thanks for your reply. Wednesday has always been my class WI (when i have attended) and also my home WI day. I dont like to WI on a Monday because i do like to splurge a bit at weekends and feel by Wednesday its balance out, so Monday would be a skewed result for me!

I dont like to think that i put barriers up exactly. Im used to having great losses in my first couple of weeks but this year i have struggled to lose anything (One first week at class i lost nothing!! even though i had stuck to my points religiously) So fear of disappointment doesnt help. Also time is a great issue for me - i know we can all use that as an excuse but Im too tired at night to exercise but i have a 2yr old around in the mornings and havent fathomed how i can do my exerciser while she's around and DH is trying to sleep as he works nights, and i work in the afternoons ***sigh***

I think the element of disappointment - minimum loss for maximum effort - is a biggie for me which breeds the 'what's the point' attitude. Its Wednesday again tomorrow and ive gotten the books out , DS is pestering me to do the Wii fit so im going to give it a bash and take one day at a time and plan the next day before i go to bed, and hopefully i'll have a decent week and get a decent loss. Wish me luck!
