It's all getting a bit much for me at the moment. I have started an OU course (work related) and am struggling with it. The last time I did anything academic was my dissertation 5 years ago, I've done no formal study since but now having 2 small people to look after as well as working 30 hours a week and all the other stuff of life, the studying is a considerable effort.

My diet has gone completely to pot and although I've only gained 1/2 a pound, I had hoped to have a loss to show for the last 6 weeks. Finally, I had stopped biting my nails but last week I nibbled them all off again and now they're all really quite sore.

So, all in all, I'm not a very happy bunny. I think I'm going to try & take things one day at a time for the next week or so.

Hi Emma

Thanks for your reply on my thread.

Time - or really the lack of it - and other commitments is a huge issue for me at the moment too and I know exactly how you feel. When i got to goal I seemed to have the perfect environment to do the whole diet and exercise thing. These days I struggle to even get on here - which i hate not being able to do. We are busy mums and I hear it said often that we need to make time for us and tbh i cant remeber the last time i had any me time that wasnt a half hour spent having my nails done (once a month) - which is sharply followed by supermarket shopping anyway! I only work 20hrs but I have to go in everyday (5 days) I would benefit from a 4 day week but that's not what they want - although i was allowed to say how i would split my week up and i did 6 hrs yesterday and only do 3 hrs today lol!

Im so far removed from doing WW i cant remember what i used to do to be in the swing of it!!! I do track so i think i need to go back through my old tracker books to refresh my memory. Even DH comments that we arent eating nearly as much veg as we used to. I know its easy to make up excuses but sometimes i just dont know where the time goes! Im sure you will experiance this too.

Taking one day at a time seems like a good idea and advice i should take too - Wednesday again tomorrow, think i will 'work on myself' to make that effort for the next few weeks.

Hope things get easier soon - for all of us ;o)

This sounds so familiar......... I'm only doing a 10 week ou course (Photography related) and even though it's meant to be for pleasure I've found that my brain is so focused on doing the studying side of it that all I want to do is eat all the naughty foods......... ooops!!!

Hopefully if you do take it one day at a time you'll help keep it all in check and you won't go off the wagon in the way I seem to have!

Message: Hi Emma,
Sorry to hear you are feeling some what overwelmed at the moment, we all go through phases like that. It will pass and it's a good idea to take things one day at a time at times like this or you can feel really bogged down if you think too far ahead.
Do you still want to do a fresh mj? We could do it as a how are things generally rather than a strictly diet diary if you fancy it, I'll leave it up to you.
Take care, Ruth

Hi Ruth,

I think a fairly informal MJ would be nice. I'm not impressed with myself this week, 3.75lbs on, and I'm not surprised.

I realised 2 days ago that my 1st essay is due in on Friday this week when I had had it in my head that it was due the week after, so now I'm going to have to try to write that as well as organising DD's birthday party for Sunday when we'll be entertaining 30+ 5 year olds (not at home thank goodness, lol).

I have actually tracked today, and although I haven't weighed everything I'm fairly sure I've pointed accurately, I make it 14.5 so far today and given that I'm allowed 19 that's good. I can't see that I'm going to fit in any exercise this week. I usually at least try to walk to nursery & back with DS which is a good 1/2 hour each way, but tomorrow I'm going to take the car as he only has a 2.5 hour session and I could do to spend as much as possible of that studying.

DH has put weight on too, so hopefully I'll have him on side with me, we did well together last time we really tried to lose weight. I've said to him that we should aim for just one week on track. I think tomorrow morning I'll try to make a couple of batches of soup to freeze and have in for low point lunches as I find that if I have a sensible breakfast & lunch dinner isn't too difficult.

Sorry for the lengthy ramble.

A considerably more rotund Emma
