Message: Jacket potatoes are nice and easy... You can have loads of different fillings. Tuna and mayo with or without spring onion, beans and cheese, spaghetti filling... just about anything... =)

Message: Couple of tips: Invest in a slow cooker, it will save you the job of actually cooking anything as you chuck in the ingredients and it does all the hard work for you. Plus you can use cheaper ingredients like root veggies, potatoes, onions etc to add lots of flavour and cheaper cuts of meat as they are being slow cooked all day. Put it all in when you go off to Uni in the morning, and it will be done by the time you get back and you can eat it with potatoes/rice/bread, nothing too taxing! Tip number 2, check out this website, it of course features potatoes highly on the list which is pretty good as they are, healthy, filling AND taste good with just about anything: http://www.britishpotatoes.co.uk/recipes/ Plus this website: http://www.beyondbakedbeans.com/ lots of ideas for meals for students on a budget..... Tip number 4: invest in some books like Jamie's Ministry of Food, even some of his other books, like Jamie at Home or the Return of the Naked Chef - once you get into the whole cooking thing his recipes are pretty easy to follow and always come out good. And remember you don't have to cook every day - you could make enough to last you for 2 days - just serve with a different side on the second day......or top your casserole/stew from the day before with a pie crust or mashed potato to make a nice pie....
