# Julia Falcon from Love Food Hate Waste will answer your questions on our Green Living message board. Date: Friday July 24th Time: 9-10 am # The Love Food Hate Waste campaign raises awareness of the need for us all to cut back on the amount of food we waste. 40% of the food which gets thrown away is made up of healthy fruit & veg. In total, we throw away 6.7 tonnes of food each year in the UK, when most of this food could have been eaten. (It's not just peelings and bones, it's good food.) That's equivalent to filling Wembley Stadium with food waste 8 times over! Since LFHW launched, 2 million more households are making an extra effort to cut back the food they waste, and making a saving of £300 million per annum. This works out at £164 per home saved off the £420 worth of food wasted from the average home. This represents a 40% reduction in the food they now throw out The impact of the Love Food Hate Waste Campaign to date, in carbon terms, is that 600,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent has been prevented from being emitted. Or the same as taking 100,000 return flights to Australia out of the skies The campaign shows that by making some simple and easy changes to the way we buy, store, prepare and cook our food, we can waste less, save money and help the environment. http://messageboards.ivillage.co.uk/iv-ukntgreen/?ctx=65536 Best wishes, CS Community Support Manager iVillage.co.uk
