ive not posted here before:)

ive just got a new dresser/chest of drawers for baby's room and i want to make a fabric mat (decorative) to protect the top of it from being scratched by a plant pot i wish to put on there and also to look pretty. im expecting a baby girl.

i dont have a sewing machine, tho i have done basic crafting in the past at school and i can sew reasonably by hand. has anyone got any ideas/patterns i could use or adapt?

id quite like to try making quilts and quilted cushions at a later date as a hobby, but i want to start with something simple first, and ive loads of time on my hands so the mat seems like a good place to start!
