At last our study is no longer a dumping ground and is a proper room but we have loads of stuff that needs organising and I need some ideas/ links to good organising thingy-ma-jigs.

Instead of post it notes/ small scraps of paper which contain important bits of paper I have a spiral bound notepad that I'll write everything in which will sit on the desk. I have a noticeboard where I will attach important appointments, but what else?

Any good ideas for storing pens/ pencils etc? What about all those other desk accessories? I want as clutter free as possible. Where do I get an in-tray from? There must be so many really good organising accessories.

HELP?

Ooh I love doing all this

Do you have  Tesco's anywhere near? They have loads of stationery ready for the back to school run. I spent about £20 the other day!!

They had  areally nice thing that you could use as a mini office to carry round too- it had a side for papers and a notpad and spaces for envelopes and stamps etc. Super cool

I think a couple of trays are a good idea, or you could think about a box file? It hides things away. I use an old tin for my pens (-most of the ones i had didnt even work!) and I have a concertina file for on going stuff and a couple of box files for done stuff. Have you put some shelves up?

I also have one of these for wills etc http://www.ryman.co.uk/Metal-File-Box-Plus-5-suspension-Files-Foolscap-Pink-0161150730.asp -although mine isnt pink and I am quite jealous of this one being pink!! I also have a 'home file' -it has like a concertina file with sections lablled 'insurance', car, utilities etc and it makes life really quick- came from one of those book clubs that brings things to the office and cant find a link.

These are also really useful http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_skuset.asp?CatIds=1068,21495,21510&name=UK_SK_Free-standing+Expanding+File

I do agree about keeping it clear- the less stuff you have aon the desk the less likely it is to develop into a hot spot.

See tho, now you have got me going and I want even more new stationery ...

Thanks Jules, I knew I could count on you!

I went to tesco this lunchtime and bought a bright blue pen pot and matching blue hole punch (something I've never had and used to just use the ring binger to make the holes).

I liked your link to  metal box file, especially as it reminded me I already had one - in the loft - from days when I used to be superorganised (i.e. before kids) so I'll get DH to get it down and I'll reuse it.

I also have bought 8 box files that I'll store all the stuff from my metal filing cabinet in and will sit neatly on top of the bookcase with large labels on each one. The horrid metal filing cabinet will go to freecycle and

*************DA-DA clutter free goddess here I am ****************

I just need to find the time to sort through all the paperwork and get them in the box files. Trouble is I spend too much time on the computer. I'll have to have a pooter free day one day..........

Oooh it sounds great- photos soon please?

Have you decided what is going in each box file and how to store it in there? That can be ha;f the battle as putting it in there is one thing- finding it again another!!

How about doing 10 or 15 minutes each day for a week on the paperwork and see where it gets you? -A whole day on it sounds far too much like hard work!!!
