Hi All,

I know this board is meant just for support, but I couldn't find another relevant message board, so I hope you don't mind me posting.

I found a lump under my breast about a month ago, kind of where my breast joins the rest of my body (iykwim). However, last night it felt bruised and the lump is slightly more pronounced. My husband felt it to, so I'm not imagining things.

My question is: should I go to my GP? I only went there about a lump on my shoulder last week, so I'm feeling a little like a hypochondriac (the lump was a sebaceous cyst, btw).

I know you should go about any abnormal lump, but I just don't wanna look stupid.

I'm really sorry if this is the wrong board to post to - feel free to tell me where else to go if I've got it all wrong.

P.S. I'm 29 and have no family history of BC.

Hi Blingblings,

I haven't posted on this board before although I've been on iVillage for a few years.

Please, please PLEASE go to your GP if there's something that doesn't feel normal for YOU.

I had breast cancer last year having found a lump. I had a mastectomy and reconstruction but I'm fine now. I might not be here today if I'd put off that GP visit.

No GP is going to think you're a hypochondriac for having a lump checked out. Please go sweetie.

xx

Hiya,

I was badgered into going to my GP the day I posted - they saw me straight away. It was all a bit embarrassing really. The first doctor didn't think it was connected to my breast tissue, but she wanted a second opinion. With that, in came 2 other doctors. The second one had a feel and agreed with the first, but thought a scan would be in order. The third one examined me and managed to get the lump to 'ooze' (nice!).

They think it's just a cyst, but they took a swab and I've got to go back on the 28th for a check-up.

It does appear to have gone down somewhat, so I'm hopeful that I won't have to have anything done.

Thanks for replying though, and sorry to have wasted your time :(
