Hi all

I have only just found this board I normally post on MC June 05 and MC Feb 08.

My youngest Harrison is 20 months old and so far has showed intolerant to dairy, egg and beef. The dairy didn't surprise me as DS1 was dairy free until he was 2.5 years old after we cut dairy out at 1.5 years (it didn't show on tests), although Harry's is much worse and he was diagnosed at 1 week old after reacting to the dairy through my milk, tests later backed this up. Since then he has showed allergies to eggs (gets hives also backed up with tests) and most recently beef which surprisingly in the blood tests showed the most reaction.

He still gets hives on and off despite cutting out dairy, egg and beef and being on a daily antihistamine; we have kept food diaries as his consultant doesn't want to test for anything without us seeing a link but I can't put my finger on what it could be. He also gets very gassy and stomach pains. I am thinking it could be lamb as we are using that more now as a beef replacement but who knows??

Anyway the reason I came on here lol was to see if anyone can recommend anything to replace egg in cakes, we are making halloween fairy cakes for nursery and although we have now perfected the buttercream the cakes seem to be a bit crumbly (Harry is a big cake fan lol) I'm presuming its because there is nothing to bind it?? Any recommendations would be great :0)

TIA

Love

Hi Shell

I think if you look up a receipe for a vegan cake you will find the replacements. I think that most recepies use either vegetable oil and/or orange juice.

It could be a good idea to cut out the lamb to see if it helps. What milk does Harrison have? Could it be this that is causing a problem?

Hi Kerry

We have tried some vegan recipes and although they taste nice they are still crumbly someone suggested banana so maybe I'll try that next

I think I will try cutting out lamb just is such a pain what to feed him already ahh well, he is having Neocate Active at the moment just in his bottle before bed if he has cereal or a drink of milk during the day he has soya milk. I think the Neocate might be to blame for the gassiness I also think it bungs him up...

We've got another appointment at the hospital in a few weeks so I'll see what they say this time

Thanks for your reply
