Hello,

how is everyone? Sorry I haven't posted in ages! I just don't seem to find time. Now what has happened since I last posted?

We haven't had a very good year. I don't know if I told you but dh broke his ankle earlier this year. On valentines day to be exact. So guess where I spent valentines day? Yes up the hospital.
He did a good job and had to stay in and have it operated on and had a plate put in. All this about 3 weeks before we were due to go on holiday..........to the Caribbean. So I had to cancel! Luckily we had insurance and managed to claim all the money back. So I was waiting on him for nearly 2 months. As some of you may know he has other problems bad back (had a couple of ops opn that) and COPD. His ankle was very swollen and the phyiso told me to massage it every day. But I have tenosynovitis in my right wrist. And all the massaging set that off! So I was then on anti-inflammatories and painkillers for a couple of months!

Anyway he has recovered as much as he is going to the ankle because of all his other problems will never get right better.

But we did manage to finally get a holiday. Which is why I posted on here. I managed to get a cheap late deal from our local airport to an all inclusive hotel called Hotel Sur Minorca, funnily enough in Minorca lol.

I booked with Thomascook and when I ordered the gluten free meal for the plane she said she would contact the hotel and tell them I needed a gluten free diet. I wasn't expecting anything special it was only a cheap 3 star hotel.

But when we went to the welcome meeting the rep said "Oh I have a piece of paper for you. Can you write down everything that you can eat so I can give it to the chefs" So I did. And when I next went in the dining room I introduced myself to the Maitre De and was told that anything that was on the buffet chicken lamb fish etc could be cooked for me without any sauce on. So it was great mostly there was something there that I could eat and liked but if not it was cooked and brought from the kitchens for me. The food was very good too.

So if anyone fancies a cheap all inclusive holiday next year that is a good hotel to go to.

Hiya,

We just wanted a cheap ai holiday where we could fly from our local airport. They don't do that many destinations and The Hotel Sur Menorca came up. I tread reviews on it. And even the people that didn't like the hotel much said the food was good..........and it was.

I think some people want a five star hotel when they have only paid for a three star! I wasn't expecting much just a nice break. After all we only paid about £550 each fro 2 weeks ai. And I was pleasently surprised.

The hotel is a little isolated but there is a free mini bust into Punta Prima every 15-20 mins. Or you can walk it in about 10-15 mins.
Also there is a lovely little bay just down a little track about 6-7 mins. walk.

And a little road train to Binibacca. A really old looking fishing village. But all is not as it seems because Binibecca was only built 8 years ago. And has become a tourist attraction. And a very pretty one at that.

So idf you fancy somewhere that wont cost the earth and just want a basic ai holiday with good food then Sur Menorca is the place to go. And Menorca it'self it lovely.

So how is Holly? And are you getting ready for Christmas yet?

oh bargain! last holiday abroad we had was ai in corfu, was a new hotel so got a cheap deal on first season. love ai especially with kiddies, seen a few where you can use all hotels in the group which looks fab. glad you had a good time.

holly is doing great - we've just applied for her first school arghhhh, she goes to nursery 4 mornings a week term time and loves it. can't believe shes 4 in january! allergies are a thing of the paste but i still avoid too much dairy, to be on the safe side rather than anything else.

haven't really given xmas much thought tbh, had a bad few months money wise - DH has been on longterm sick due to stress so we went halfpay this month, thankfully hes back now!, i've had pants pay for 2 months as i sell books in schools so when they're shut no sales lol, mum retired as she couldn't find a new job but as she's not fully devorced from dad yet she can't get full pension! luckily the horses and sheep don't need xtra feed in summer and the hens egg sales pay for there feed.

got 2 pigs and some turkeys fattening up so least we'll eat well lol! oh and lambs too.

We always go ai. And it is just as well we did in Menorca. What with the LOCAL beer being £3.50p a pint bread £2.50p a loaf and coffee at least £1.50p for a small cup! W spent about £60 just on cups of coffee when we were out. Which was most mornings.

Good news about the allergies. My youngest gd still has her dairy allergy. I think she will always have it now as she is 8 now.

The eldest gd Megan is here tonight she is staying the night. And our gs Kieryn is coming Wednesday. He says he is staying the night..... we will see. He has not stayed yet either I have ended up taking him home or his mum or dad collecting him lol. But he is a bit older now so we will see. But I am not holding my breath. Then Jade will be staying Friday night!

Think I will be coming round yours for Christmas lunch a fresh turkey sounds great to me. Sorry to hear about your dh. But glad that he is feeling better now.
