Message: This is my 1st time on here. I had a smear test in Ocotber 2003 and now have to go to have a colposcopy cos I have abnormal cells and need to have a loop biospy, I have heart/lung probs so I have to go to a hospital in London. I am worried cos my partners got a wart on his penis and as had it years, the dr told him years ago that he is just one of these people that shall always have this virus in him. What I am worried about is that is the reason I have a abnormal smear? Is this the cause of it? We dont talk about this wart problem but it is worrying me, I have been with my partner for 3 years and we are very happy and hope to marry sometime next year. Please any one if you have any answers please reply. Thank you.

i have just last month had the same treatment that you have had to have and waiting to hear if they got rid of the abnormal cells.

Its all very scarey until you have the correct information. Studies claim that there is a connection between abnormal cells and the HPV virius. (wart viris) Many people can have this without even knowing about it ( althought they didnt mention this when i had my treatement must find that out!)

My doctors, friends have all assured me that the procedure you are due to have is very common and 9 times out of 10 rids you of the abnormal cells.

There are loads of helpful links on the villages boards about smear tests etc so take time to read them they might put your mind at rest.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Message: Hi there

Welcome to the board

Bubbles is right there have been studies showing that HPV/gential warts can increase your risk of cervical cancer. If you partner had gential warts you are also more than likely infected but not showing any signs yet. I have heard that cervical smear tests can show up HPV infections.

I have pasted some threads with info below for you on cervical cancer and also HPV/gential warts
