Hi

I have posted on the depression board today but i thought it might be useful to ask for advice here as well.

I have a condition known as IGA deficiency IGA (immunoglobulin A) is basically an antiviral antibody. So it helps fight infection. As i have a deficiency of this i am more prone to infections (throat, sinus, stomach) some people don't have any symptoms at all but i have suffered all my life with my sinuses and more recently IBS. Anyway, i was reading that this can be also linked to autoimmune diseases. Now i dont want to sound completlely paranoid here but it got me wondering if my thyroid levels are up the spout? My mum suffered with her thyroid (i don't think it's hereditary) but a lot of the symptoms of both over and under active thryroids are things like fatigue and depression. Anyway, i need to go to the doctors for something else so i might ask about this when i am there. Do you think they'll just do a blood test?

Thanks for any help. I am going to post this on one of the health boards as well.

xx

Hi,

I would just mention it when you go to see your dr next as they can do a blood test to check your thyroid.
