Message: That is good Jean. The usual advice is, turn TV, radio off altogether and as little light as possible. Not surprising you didn't get to sleep with a main light and the TV left on!

Hi Rocks, wondered if I'd see you on this board.

I think its easy for not sleeping to become a habit and I've tried very hard to break the habit when it kicks in. I'm OK with the odd night of not sleeping, but when its every night I think its a habit which needs to be broken. The only way I've found to break the habit is by staying up to ridiculous hours, then I'm so exhausted I sleep.

The worst for me is to go to bed at a reasonable hour, sleep for a few hours, then lay awake until almost the alarm is due. Just does me in. Also vivid dreaming after a few hours sleep causes me some severe trouble. I've not tried medication yet, although I'm sure I should have at times.

Here's hoping we sleep well tonight.

Hello Free,

Good to hear from you again.  I have had terrible problems logging into i.village so actually emailed you off board.

I hope that your sleeping has improved too...luckily I am on a "roll" at the moment and sleeping well so long may it continue.

One of my friends has been taking valerian complex and said for her its fantastic she has been sleeping well since the first night of taking.  I have bought some in case I need to try later but its like everything for some people things work and for others they don't.  I agree with you about the habit thing and it needs breaking, however I have tried the staying up thing in the past and that doesn't work either just makes it all worse.

It seems for me the "habit" is to go to bed the same time and change nothing grrr didn't know I was that boring.

Hope everybody had a lovely mother's day and for those that didn't here is a big (((((hug for your)))))

Rocks x

My reply to your email bounced back so I tried your other email address.

I hope your improved sleeping continues too. I've heard of valerian, but not sure in what connection.

I do firmly believe in the habit, but also get the one off or couple of nights of not sleeping.

The last 2 nights were bad for me, going to bed early as I was tired, falling asleep, then waking after a few hours and couldn't get back to sleep and dreamt vividly. So might try going later tonight which seems to work. Whatever I do I end up tired, perhaps I should give valerian a try, let me know how you get on if you end up using it.

Mothers Day was a bit of a none event, as I've said I don't believe in the commercialism of it, that every day should be Mothers Day, or every so often. I feel the same for many 'celebrations'. So I didn't see either of my two, DS came round with a card on Saturday, with some lovely words and a big hug. DD said at the party we were at together on Saturday, that she hadn't brought a card or present and that was that. She does send me texts and emails saying she loves me lots and I get the odd random present which makes up for it, and is afterall what I've said I prefer.

Hope you had a good one.
