Hi there ladies,

I won't go on for ever as this is a long story but will explain the basics. I have clinical  depression and an anxiety disorder which caused me to drop out of uni ( I am now 28). Have had various dead-end jobs since then. Last year I took on a part-time reception post to build up my confidence when returning to work after a long period of illness. I hate it it is so stressful. People talk down to me. It is either dead or extremely busy. My boss is an asshole basically I have tried to negotiate with them and rectify the situation but nothing I try ever gets dealt with. My partner is stressed as we really needed me to be bringing in a full-time wage as well.

I am gutted as last week I had an interview for a well paid admin post which I was virtually promised would be mine after a previous interview with a company. Today they called back and have given the job to someone else. I am so down. I am an intelligent woman and I feel i am resigned to a life of dead end jobs as I can't afford to go back top college and don't even know what I am good at as my self-esteem is in tatters. With the current job market I am finding it so hard to even get interviews and am always told I only just missed out on the jobs by someone else.

To top it off i don't really know many people where I live and my partner is often away working for long time periods. I am so sorry if this sounds like I am wallowing I am just at the end of my tether and feel useless! x

Hi Bubbles,
You're doing the right thing in looking for another job. I would use the time before you find one to really think about what kind of job you want, which type would be best for your health and problems.

You wouldn't want something too busy nor too dead and I think you'd benefit from having a job where you could see the results of your efforts, possibly with helping other people.

It's good to be told that you only just missed out on those jobs because it shows how good you are. I'm sure they wouldn't say this to every applicant because some can fall so short of the mark that they just wouldn't ever be considered and I can't see anyone telling them they came close. If it was written it might be a different matter but spoken, probably not.

You might like to try this as a way to find friends.

All you can do is keep applying for jobs but if you aren't having much luck in one range of options it might be because you're meant to widen them.
