Hi all,

Hope you are well.

As the title says I passed my driving test on Saturday - having previously failed it 3 times!!

Anyhow as you can imagine I was delighted to have finally did it with 4 weeks left until baby's arrival.

It's going to mean so much freedom when I'm off on mat leave with DS and new baby.

But the thing is I went a drive around the block last night (leaving hubby in house as I was too nervous to have him with me) and was a quivering wreck. I nearly smashed into another vehicle at one point as she came speeding around a corner straight into my path and I no idea what to do or how manouvre out her path!

And I feel our car (a hyundai 4x4) is too big for me to drive (I learned in a corsa). The clutch sits very low compared to the brakes and accelerator and I can barely reach it to change gears, which worries me for clutch control etc as I'm generally good at that but feel I have no control in this car.

Hubby says to go oout on aproper road and practice but I'm far too scared to venture on a proper road yet!

Am I being ridiculous. I'm worried now that I've passed that I wont ever use the car!!!

Hi Letchie. Congrats on passing the test!

No I don't think u r being ridiculous. Handling a 4x4 is different from a Corsa. When I drive my mate's Suzuki I have to remember to put the seat forward to reach the pedals. Forgot once - stuck it in reverse gear and it howled!!!!

Is there any chance of you getting your own small car (2nd or 3rd hand)? Or of your hubbie agreeing to a new smaller vehicle?

The last thing u want now you've proven u r good is to spend your life worried that u might hit something.

Hope u sort it out

Thea
