1. What's you name?

2. Which county are you in?

3. Tell us three things you like about this time of the year

4. Do you have a Green challenge for yourself this winter?

Answer as many or as few of these questions as you wish, just say hello, it would be lovely to hear from you.

1. What's you name?

Hello I'm Maid

2. Which county are you in?

I'm in Norfolk; close to the Norfolk Broads, not far from the sea and not far from Norwich either so having the best of most worlds.

3. Tell us three things you like about this time of the year

Awww the return of the altimate comfort food - mashed potato.

A light chill in the air in the mornings, but not serious enough to need the heating on yet.

Spotting the baby hedgehogs in the evenings, out on their own around the garden.

4. Do you have a Green challenge for yourself this winter?

To finish making the handbag I started, put down and never picked up again.  And to get best use of the new and bigger clothes airer I bought this summer after the very old one finally collapsed.

Luv Maid

Hi,

I am after a new clothes airer too, DH thought it would be a great idea to pick my splendid £4.99 Lidl one up by one of its arms... ah well.

1. What's you name?

Hi, I am sam

2. Which county are you in?

I am in Lancashire, where it's nice and hilly, on the edge of a rubbish town but near enough to the countryside, Manchester and the seaside to cope. Hopefully I'll be fully installed at the seaside within the next 6 months or so though :-)

3. Tell us three things you like about this time of the year

Football is in full swing I like it when the clocks go back and the game starts during the day and it's dark by the time you leave the ground

The smokey smell in the air. It always makes me think of walking home from school and knowing we'd have toast in front of the fire. On a Monday you could smell everyone cooking liver and onions for tea (do I sound like a child of the 1930's or what?)

Flanelette sheets, they're just great. I love modern ones where there's no scratchyness. I did make the mistake of putting flanelette top and bottom AND pillowcases. It was sooooooo difficult to get out of bed I had to remove most of it, lol.

4. Do you have a Green challenge for yourself this winter?

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of it really. I think it's probably going to be something to do with not going out in the car too much. DH has gone from waking to and from work everyday to having an 80 mile round trip in the car - so something to offset that!

Thanks Maid, great idea.

1. What's you name?
I'm Rachel

2. Which county are you in?
Cumbria, South Lakes, right on the coast, close to the hills and the lakes, right on the edge of a lovely market town, best of all worlds really (I don't mean to sound smug but I do love it and know how lucky I am)

3. Tell us three things you like about this time of the year
The changes - sudden temperature drops (this morning we had frost, and now it's a beautiful sunny autumnal day), like Sam I also love catching the smell of real fires in the evening, especially if you are walking home in the cold - it makes me feel all warm and snuggly. And like Maid I love all the food especially the mashed potato. We actually lit the woodburner yesterday because it was so wet and cold, one of those days when the damp makes it feel really chilly, and I got so excited because it meant I could start cooking on it again, lol!

4. Do you have a Green challenge for yourself this winter?
Yes - Green parenting, and it's quite a scary one, lol, we've done really well so far, most of the stuff we need we have got from Freecycle or friends, and the quality is all as good as new. I still need to get my reusable nappies, and want to get into the habit of using them straightaway, a friend has offered to pass some on to us so I just need dp to chase that up, as that would obviously be better than buying everything new. Plus if we do get some from them, then I can look at what we actually do need to buy. Basically my green challenge is to start off parenthood on the green path so that it becomes second natue ;-)

Great idea, and great questions Maid.

Much love

1. What's you name? Becks (a constant lurker)

2. Which county are you in? Lancashire.

3. Tell us three things you like about this time of the year - sitting in front of the fire in the evenings knitting up winter woolies. walking through the crunchy leaves. Waking up to that crisp chill in the very early hours (5am due to two early risers!)

4. Do you have a Green challenge for yourself this winter? Oh yes! I am trying to have a handmade/homemade christmas. Lots of knitting, crochet and needlework going on here right now. Anything that needs buying will be either pre-loved, handmade by crafty mamas and papas, or fair trade. A big challenge with 8 children and 1 grandchild to arrange gifts for! Also will be making all christmas trimmings, foods etc by hand. You know, decorations, mincemeat, cakes, crackers and all that......
