Dear Pooh-mum, I just dropped by and read your note. I'm so sorry for your loss at 42, I'm not surprised you still have feelings for getting pregnant. I am 41, I am also quite overweight and have had five early miscarriages. During investigations at age 39, I discovered my Follical Stimulating Hormone (which indicates quality of eggs) was high - not impossibly high, but too high for IVF, (which thankfully I didn't need). I was told that if I dieted, my FSH would most likely come down a bit, but this test is also age related, so it wasn't clear how much it really would. I was also told by several doctors that it probably wouldn't happen to me. Fed up with the whole madness, I gave up, was a bit carefree at Christmas and am now 4 months pregnant. It might well happen to me yet! It does happen to women of all different shapes, sizes and ages, but in general younger women who are not over or underweight have better outcomes. Your age and weight do count against you, but if you are serious, I would suggest getting your FSH and AMH measured. This will tell you (particularly the AMH test) how many eggs you have left, and what quality they are. Armed with that information you can make a decision about what to do, and that way you can avoid the feeling of being in limbo. I understand it is hard, but if you really want to try again (and the fact you got pregnant at 42 is a good sign for you) you need to move quickly. Good luck whatever you decide to do hugs sweetgingercat
