My sister's just recently retired from teaching.  It's early retirement so she's still got a lot of time on  her hands and so she's looking into doing some private tuition.

Here's an article about careers in education that shows there's an increasing amount of work out there.  Private tuition is something more and more parents are looking into because with the economy having taken a dive, they want to make sure their kids don't get left behind in the future.

There are a number of large companies now that are offering long-term tutoring jobs, which is a step away from small tutoring companies offering varied quality.
