Hi All. I'm looking for some advice please! I have been on the pill for approx 18 years. I had a break from it when i had my little boy (4)for about a yr. I'm thinking of ttc for another baby with my  new partner and maybe come off the pill in November. My concerns are I'm 37 and I feel my time is running out. I'm not sure how long it will take to get my body back to normal and if I could start ttc the next month after coming off pill. I would love any advice and stories you all have. Thanks x

Hi Jane - I don't often post on here but thought I would say hi, I am also 37 but afraid I haven't been on the pill for about 10 years so can't help with the question how long it takes to get your cycles back to normal. I do know other people who have got pregnant straight after coming off the pill so I think it depends? I know you probably feel time is running out but all the staff at the hospital think I am a spring chicken! They see a lot of "older mums" and have made me feel quite reassured.

Hi Jane

When TTC my daughter (I was 34 at the time), I came off the pill after about 15 years and managed to get pregnant within 3 months.
I'm now TTC #2 at age 37, and my first BFP took 6 cycles but probably only about 3 cycles count since either I was sick or DH was traveling for the other cycles.
Age certainly makes a difference but the fact that you've already had one baby should give you some hope. Plus there are PLENTY of us older mums on these boards, and some of whom consider us 37 year-olds spring chickens.

So get off that pill and let the BD commence!

I was on the pill continuously for 20 years  (from the ages of 19 to 39).  When I came off it I got pregnant in 2 months.  Sadly I miscarried that baby but then got pregnant again within 3 months and now have a 19 month toddler who I gave birth to at the age of 40. 

Hope this gives you a bit of hope.
