Saw my GP today and have been diagnosed with PND. Have fluoxetine and also some diazepam to take if I need to on occasion as my anxiety levels have been through the roof and I've been having panic attacks.

Have also since spoken to HV about it too, and she's been brilliant.

Hopefully soon I'll be feeling a lot less like a useless mum!

Lisa x

Aww hun im sorry to hear that, but as someone who has and still is, suffering from depression i can honestly say that it will get better. Its good that it has been picked up and that your H/V is great (mine is awful and i cant say boo to her) luckily im also under the care of my gp who is fab.

I'm sure soon you will feel a lot better and realise that you are a fab mum(like we all know you are)

Love n hugs

Hi Lisa

Hugs hun x

I'm taking the same AD's  for PND and have been on them for about a month now - I felt a huge difference within 48 hours of taking them and so far I have felt immensely better so hopefully they will have the same effect for you.

I'm so glad that you are getting the support you deserve.

Lots of love, you know where I am if you need a natter.

Hugs, Jayne x x

Massive (((hugs))) Lisa,

You may not realise it, but you have taken a massive step and that is going and asking for help and facing the way you feel, so you should feel proud of yourself.

You are anything but useless. Sometimes life really does get the better of us and that's ok, it's what you do about it that counts and I don't believe for a minute that Ewan has suffered or felt any less loved. For now, you need to concentrate on yourself and your mental and emotional well being (sorry, couldn't think how else to word it) and the rest will come together I am sure. I am just so glad you have got the support of your GP and HV.

Please remember you have been through so much, so much more than the "normal" pregnancy and birth and it's only natural that it was going to take its toll, but you have so much love and support here, so let us help however we can.

Take care and I hope the tablets help.

Love,

Right - first up you are NOT useless. You know you're not. If you honestly believe you are, I want you to get "what mothers do" and read it. I've been where you are, and I swear that book seriously helps that useless feeling.

Second up - Like the other girls are saying, you're already on the road to recovery by seeking help. It's a long tunnel but I can promise you there is a light at the end. You know where I am if you want to chat realtime.

And lastly - don't beat yourself up about getting PND. You were always going to be a prime candidate for it (remember I said to you right after you had Ewan and the birth affecting you?) It's NOT your fault, and NOTHING you could have done would have stopped it.

Just you work on getting better :) Get out as much as possible, being alone makes it worse.

Julie.xx
