I went into town yesterday and we were in a queue outside the bank waiting for it to open (in a small side street) and a truck had to drive down the street so he could reverse back to get to a loading bay in a side street opposite. He was reversing right on the pavement and was inches from me and the pram. I couldnt move coz i was up against a wall and there were people in front and behind me. He was heading straight for the pram and all i could see was her being squashed against the wall it was like i was watching it happen to someone else.  A little old man was banging on the door trying to get him to stop and luckily he did just before he crushed the pram against the wall. He didnt stop coz of the man though he just needed to change position, he ignored the bloke :(  I have never been so scared in all my life there was literally nothing i could do, i was shaking and crying all the way home and still havent really recovered from it yet. I feel really nervous about taking her outside, but i had to take DS to school but i went straight home afterwards. It was the single most horific experience of my life and i havent stopped crying since. I really thought i was going to lose her.

My DH is trying to make a complaint but at the moment we are just being fobbed off from one person to another.

OMG Laura!

Mases and masses of (((hugs))) coming your way and you have every right to be emotional at the very least as I can only imagine how scary it must have been for you. I would say the main thing is to think of what didn't happen, but I know I would be just the same thinking what could have, so all I can say is shock can last a long time so let yourself have lots of big cries, it will help you deal with the whole horrible thing.

I really hope DH has some luck getting through to the truck company and letting them know just how traumatic the whole thing was for you as well as the obvious, what could have been a tragedy and tbh that driver shouldn't be on the road if he doesn't know what his mirrors are for. How about reporting him to the DVLA?

I am so sorry Laura that you had to go through such a scary experience. Hold your precious little girl extra tight and have a good old cry.

Oh Laura how awful!! It must have been terrifying, especially because there was nothing you could do. If it were me I would probably have dragged him out the van and punched him!

Have you complained to the company who's van it was? Surely they should pull him up on it, if not more.
