To process a brand new tax credits claim?

Morning everyone.

A question for people that claimed tax credits for the first time just interested to know how long it took for the claim to be processed. I sent the form off last Tuesday and im guessing because of all the postal strikes no idea when it was actually received. Im just hoping they get it done before 2nd December as that will be 3 months since Charlie was born and I know they wont backdate it further than that so dont want to miss out on any money. Shall I ring them to check they have received the form?  Ive heard from various people that it takes a long time to sort out? The child benefit was done in 1 week from sending form off to the backdated payment being put in my account.

Hi,

I think mine took about 3 or 4 weeks to process and receive a letter detailing what I would get. Provided that you have given all the info they need and it's correct, it shouldnt take too long - fingers crossed!

HI

When i spoke to them they said to phone after 2 weeks to let them know our change in circumstance for 09-10 as i am no longer working and my salary before meant we wouln't get a penny. I'm therefore guessing it takes upto 2 weeks to get onto the system and maybe a week after that?

hi hun

I sent mine off 4 weeks ago, i rang the other day for an update and they said the hold up was because the information on the form id sent to them, differed to the information the child benefit agency had.  It turned out the CBA had Isla's name spelt as Ila, duh.  So this has held it up somewhat im going to ring on monday to see whats going on.  Id definitely call them for an update, i dont think they mind the advisors on the phone have always been very helpul with me x
