Hello

Hope you can help! My baby has been both breast and bottle fed since he was a week old and we have always used cartons of SMA Gold.

On Saturday we are going to Menorca on holiday, so I decided the powder would be more practical. Tonight I made up a bottle as per the instructions to try, but it seemed a bit watery to me and when I tested it for temp I wasn't sure if it tasted a bit metallic. Anyway, Elliott wasn't keen at all and what he did drink came straight back up again.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Should we be able to switch between powder and cartons?

Cheers

Cal x

Hi,

I had a friend whose LO wouldn't make do with anything but the ready made stuff, aptimil in his case. Could it be the temperature that you are making the bottle up at? If the water isn't hot enough the formula doesn't seem to mix well so you have more watery milk with lumps in. It may just be that your DS doesn't like the powder. I'll do a bit of digging for you and see if I can find any advice. It may be worth asking SMA about it though, I'm sure they've come across it before.

xx

Thanks Katie. I have emailed SMA so I'll see what they say.

He eventually had the rest of the bottle and kept it down. I think it was the right temperature, when I mixed it and there didn't seem to be any lumps. He normally has all his feeds at room temp, so maybe it was because this one was still warm.

Cheers

They are picky little things aren't they? LOL!
My DD didn't like anything but room temp milk either, which I was quite pleased about on the whole but it could be a pain when she was hungry and the bottle was hot.

I hope you have more luck before you go away. Let us know what SMA say.

Katie
