Ok i understand you ladies know your "stuff" when it comes to pushchairs etc.

right quick run down i brought a silvercross compact and then found a quinny freestyle 4xl. well this was far far too bug for us so managed to sell andthen also decided i didnt like the silver cross. wanted a "carrycot" style one.

anyways i've take a rather nice liking to the jane range they have! the powertrack 360 and the jane slalom pro.! along with the matrix carseat/carry cot

so please could someone give some advice/comments/pros and cons.

i've found a slalom on ebay at a really reasonable price. and really wanna get it but dont want to end up in the position i was with the last 2! DH is getting fed up of me and pushchairs! lol and TBh i dont blame him i'm getting fed uup of me and them too! lol

TIA ladies!

love stacy

Hi Stacy

Not sure how much I can help (I have a Jane Nomad) but I do have the Matrix Cup car seat which I use on the chassis as a pram, too.

The car seat IS very heavy, especially if you've got a heavy baby in it. I thought it would be okay for me to lift, but I wasn't expecting to have a large baby and an emergency c-section, so I have had problems with it from that perspective!

However, it is very well designed, seems to be hard wearing, you can now get some nice matching Jane footmuffs for the Matrix Cup, too, and I do like how it can lay flat as a car seat, too, for longer journeys. It's very easy to get on and off the chassis (though the chassis is big - if you have a big boot then fine, I'm not sure if the other Jane chassis are as big as the Nomad but it's not the most compact of chassis!) and the hood is fiddly to fix at first but you soon get the hang of it.

You would need to buy a separate rain cover for the Matrix Cup if you're using it as a pram (and a genuine one is quite expensive) but it is a very good rain cover, usual Jane quality...

Finally, I've also found that because the Matrix Cup is a big car seat, you'll need to check your seat belts will fit around it first! I've been in a few different cars with it and found that a new Skoda Octavia and a new Renault Laguna have long enough seat belts for it (it can be fiddly to fit so the more slack in the belt while you're fitting it in the better) whereas a relatively new Ford Focus C-Max and a Skoda Fabia don't have long enough seat belts, and I suspect this is the case with many smaller cars out there - the seat belts either only just fit around the seat, or fit around it okay but are too tight to be able to affix the belt to the two 'clips' at the back of the seat comfortably. You also need to make sure that if it's in the back seat you can move your front seat forward to accommodate it as every car I've been in and fitted the seat in the back, there's not enough room unless the seat in front is moved forward at least two notches! I'm much quicker at fitting it in the car now, but it does still take longer to fit than other car seats. (It's much quicker to fit when it's in its lie-flat mode.)

After all that I would still recommend it as it feels very sturdy, rugged, robust and safe, and the chassis (being aluminium) is lovely and light despite its size. Not sure if this is the same for the Slalom chassis but is the case with the Nomad chassis.

Sorry it's long but hope it helps a bit?!

Lisa x

hi thanks for that.

yer the slalom and powertrack are alliminium frames too so very lightweight and easy to manouver with one hand (which would be handy with a toddle too!)

some pple who have the carseat have said its very awkward to fit in the car. but i do like the idea of the laying flat and will probably not use it as a car seat IYKWIM. unless i REALLY have to. as we have 2 kids already and a 5 seater car we couldnt lay it flat that often anyway lol

but i do like the idea nad i do like the design of the pushchair too.

i'm so torn at the mo as DH is not wanting to spend a lot on a pushchair but i'm being a right fussy cow at the same time lol

its getting to the point i'm gonna say stuff it and carry baby pmsl

thanks again!

xx
