Just wondering how everyone is feeling about this. My sister works with school nurses and one of them was in contact with someone who's since been diagnosed with Swine Flu. My sister fully expects that they will all get it at some point. She says she's not too worried for herself, but is worried over her MiL who has serious underlying health problems.

Are you taking any special precautions or are you not bothered about it? I have to say I'm in two minds! Don't want any kind of flu over the summer hols, and dreading the kids getting it, especially as DD suffers with croup and Swine Flu is a respiratory illness. :-(

Hi

I work in a Uni and have one dd at school and 1 at nursery. Come september, several thousand students will come back to my place of work (not that I will have contact with them all, LOL) and both dds will mix with the kids in their class again, who will have been off travelling over the summer.

I honestly don't think I can do much to stop me or them getting it now. And while I accept all the precautions, unfortunately 3yos pick their noses, don't wash their hands, can't use a tissue properly, etc, etc...

Hope you little one is OK. I have heard drs will prescribe the antivirals to those who need them if they get swine flu, so perhaps your little one might be eligible.

I honestly think that Swine Flu has been really over played by the press!

Other than taking the recommended precautions there is little we can do but it is not (in the majority of cases) a major deal if you or you little ones do get it. Tamiflu will be prescribed early on as long as you are looking out for symptoms and with that alongside a mothers love and care your little one should come through unscathed.

This article has some interesting points and answers a lot of the worries being talked about:

I am worried cos I don't want to see my kids suffering with it, plus they both suffer badly with croup at the first sign of a cold or cough!

I work in a college which is very quiet at the moment but I just know it will spread like wildfire once the students return.

I have been taking vitamins and actimels for immune system support and been giving the kids vitamins and have kept my 15 month old on his formula milk rather than on normal cows milk as it has probiotics in and I can't get him to have probiotic yogurt drinks. I know this probably won't make much difference but its worth a try!
