How does everyone feel about "Bonnie baby" photo competitions? Are they a bit of fun, or does the thought of other people judging your baby on it's looks leave you cold?

I have to say I'm in the latter group, I just don't like them, but would like to hear from others who disagree and why!

There is one in my local paper every year.  I did it the first year with ds1 so that I could get his picture taken professionally and appear in the paper, and sent clippings to the grandparents.  I'll do the same for ds2 too, so he can have the same clipping.

I ignored the actual competition though - didn't even vote!  Of course in my eyes my boys are the most gorgeous creatures on earth and nuts to anyone that doesn't agree ;-p

They leave me cold but I can't put my finger on a specific reason, I can however see why people would enter their children for the fun of it and not take it seriously.

My local paper does one every year and I tend to find we have some 'odd' winners, mainly because their family tell everyone they know to vote and really it becomes a popularity competition between parents.

Of course I also know that my DS would win hands down and therefore have to give the others a chance by not entering *whistles*.
