Thats awful!

How can they justify that decision without any proof that she would b a neglectful mother?

Although sayin that Social services took my BFF kids away after her youngest died of SIDS this yr, under the pretence of givin her a break and that they would only b away for a week. That was in august and she still hasnt had them back. Now they're sayin she was neglecting their emotions, i mean hello her new born daughter had just died and her husband left her for another woman! what do they expect? everything to be hunky doory? its like good parents r being punished while other kids who really need help r bein ingored and dying because of it. Talk about a*se backwards.

Sorry for the rant but social really piss me off

Message: Personally I don't believe anything in the Daily Mail but if this story is true as reported then it is shocking.  I imagine there's a lot more going on behind the scenes - especially as the step was taken to refuse them permission to marry, I've never heard of that before.

i agree that the mail are a bunch of facists and never belive anything i read in their bias spread!

however i have followed the story from the girl being told she was not able to get married as they did not think she had the "mental capacity" to make her own decision about marriage

from what i can see she's been brought up by grandparents and social workers have had a long standing involvement with the family, so i think there may be a lot of back ground issues that the press have not reported on. it saddens me that the girl and her partner sound as though they have tried to comply with social workers, wanting to attend parenting classes etc but they are now considering leaving Fife altogether - to enable them to be given a chance with a different borough and social work division.

most social workers will try to keep a family together if at all possible (financially it is much cheaper than the foster care route fife council want to take), so i'm not really sure what they think the child is at risk of here. on the face of it the girl seems to have a good support network, including the baby's dad then i fail to see why they need to remove this child from its mother at birth.

having done a social work degree and worked in children and family services i'm not really sure what is going on with this case - i have seen similar cases but intervention and removal of a child is only done if the child is thought to be in iminent risk of abuse or nelect

Message: I found the marriage thing very strange.  I think if they went as far as to suggest she didn't have the capacity to understand marriage then surely she isn't capable of looking after a baby either?  I agree it's terrible to remove the child without giving them a chance at all but without knowing all the reasons it's difficult to judge.  Not difficult for the Daily Mail to judge though lol! :o)
