Hey Laura If you're still doing some purees surely he'll still get them everywhere? :o) With BLW you shouldn't 'top them up' yourself with puree and a spoon, just let them eat/not eat what they can. Maybe give them a spoon to hold to learn with but not put anything in their mouths yourself. So if they don't do it themselves, they don't eat. From what I've read BLW is often a follow on from BFing because it's still baby led, so a natural way to go. Baby will carry on BFing and reduce themselves as/when necessary. Apparently with FFing babies are more used to taking however much milk we give them and when (although I'm sure last time I checked I'm sure I wasn't force feeding her more than she wanted lol). I haven't fully learnt about it and can't remember all the details I have read and slightly afraid of posting in case I get it wrong IYKWIM! Also something to do with BM being a drink as well as food, and BF babies have to work harder for their milk. Most of the guidance seems aimed towards BFers, but I can't see why it should be possible for FFers too as long as we're careful and also offer water regularly with and inbetween 'meals'. Why should we miss out on BLW just because we couldn't/chose to FF hey? :o)
