Hi Ladies,

Just need some advice, babys dad wishes to see little one (which is good) however he says this but makes no effort to actually do this Hmmmmm so your left wondering what to do.

Obviously I would prefer to keep to a sensible mangable amount of time as we are parted so the less time with him for me the better however i fully understand baby must learn who her daddy is.

if this went to caught what is the time allocated to a child at this age 3 months, and is once once a fornight for a couple of hours acceptble, bascily is this less or more time if the court the court had to allocate it?

many thanks

Hi, I'm sorry I don't know but this'll bump your question up :o)

Hopefully someone with a better idea will come along, or I wonder if the CAB might be able to advise you?

Hiya

I think a court would look at things on an individual basis, for example are you happy that baby's dad is capable of caring for the baby, can he change nappies, feed baby etc, i assume your not breast feeding as if you were you would have to come up with a way round that.

I think for a 3 month old if he has had no contact or very little contact with dad then the first few contacts should take place at your home (if at all possible) that way you can stay in the background but be available to answer any questions and also satisfy yourself that he is meeting the babies needs, after that i dont think it's unreasonable to say a few hours a fortnight but that as their bond grows you would consider increasing it

Good luck, hope it works out

also if he has asked to see baby but done nothing about it dont chase him. leave it until he does something about it.

I told DS bio dad a LONG time ago that I will not ask him to see his son, he should want to. he doesnt make any effort at all but its not my fault.

there are special centres aswell where you can have meets and they are supervised but Im not sure if you can only attend these centres if it has been through the courts.
