Hi girls,

Elisabeth slept in her room last night for the first time (napped in there yesterday too) in her basket which was inside the cot. She is such a little star

Last night she went to bed at seven. She woke crying after an hour, obviously just didnt know where she was, and she was chewing her hand. Gave her some Ashton and Parsons powder and off she went.
She then woke up a couple of times,(1.30, 3.30ish) but only very briefly - a couple of squeaks and I heard a little bit of hand sucking then off to sleep again, until she woke at about 5.45am to be fed.

However, I slept quite badly. Whenever she moved about, squeaked or sucked her hands, I could hear it very clearly through the baby monitor (BT 150) and it woke me up, then unable to get back to sleep.

DH says I should turn the sensitivity lower, so i don't hear all the fussy noises and just the important louder ones (it was on level 4 out of 5) so that I get better quality sleep. I suppose I worry that I might miss something important, but I suppose he is right - any crying or obvious discomfort would still be heard on a lower setting.

I am wondering for those of you with the same monitor as me and baby sleeping in another room, what sensitivity level do you have it set to? Do you think DH is right?

Seems a silly thing to ask you, but I will ask anyway :-)

Happy Thursday girls xx

Hi Rosie,

I have the same monitor and have it set at level 5. Perhaps you heard every little noise because you were anxious about her 1st night in her own room? I like the sensitivity to be high as if not I'd worry about not hearing DS. At night I have the volume set at 3. You will hear her if she cries even if you lower the sensitivity.

Hope that helps!

Maybe x

Message: We have our BT 100 monitor on mute, with a sock over it to cut the glare from the light... Bad parents huh? But we always heard Jack cry out before the monitor cut in. The only time we don't have it on mute is when he is in bed and we are downstairs.

I am still using ours with Xander as Ronan is still in with us, but I have it on level 1, you will hear them crying no problem at all. If you're not sure, then get DH to go in the room and "pretend" to be baby ie little quiet contented noises while you fiddle with the settings, you don't need to hear everything, just the "I need my mummy NOW noises!" and I promise you'll hear those particular noises even without a monitor.
