Hi and so sorry I hardly ever post, I don't know where my time goes (well with 3 children I do!!)

Anyway, just wanted your opinions. Henry is breasfed and seems satisfied on this, but he does wake at least once in the night. Whilst I know this is normal and to be expected, with 2 other children and having to get up for school etc, I'm struggling with tiredness. I'm ok at the moment but I found last half term a real struggle. So, I'm wondering whether introducing one formula feed late at night might be the answer. What does anyone think.

Just looking for honest balanced opinions!

Love Jo

Hi Jo

Formula isn't a magic cure for waking in the night, unless you plan to get someone else to do the night feeds and will manage to sleep through yourself ;-)

Kellymom has some info on night waking/formula/etc...

Hiya,

Give it a go Jo,No harm in trying,Maybe get hubby to to give it to Henry.I know they have a growth spurt around 16 weeks.Have you started weaning yet?
Since i've been giving Finlee 1 meal a day of solids he has been sleeping 6pm till 6am and is much more settled coz he's full.
No harm in trying.Let me know how he goes.I to have 2 other kids aswell and can really sympathise with you being tired and the other ones being up at the crack of dawn, plus broken sleep does'nt help when bubs wakes in the night.
Hope he settles down soon and gives you a much needed break.

Tanya

Hi there

Thanks for the messages, much appreciated. Tanya - we've just come out the other side of the growth spurt, which was fun!! Anyway, I gave him a really big feed at 11 pm last night but he wouldn't touch the formula, he'd only take half an ounce, so he can't be that hungry. Think I'm going to play it by ear and see how we get on. He still woke at 3 am anyway for a feed, but we'll see what happens. TBH I think yesterday we had the first real signs of teething, so perhaps thats coming in to play as well at the moment.

Hi Jo,

I have breastfed Finn since the beginning. He has about 7 feeds a day plus one bottle of formula after his bath, before bed, and he has only slept through once. I don't really think formula is the solution to night waking but it could be worth a try. I'm taking advantage of Finn being my first and not having to get up for school runs etc, but I do appreciate how tiring it is. We're usually up twice in the night these days.
