Just thought I'd share my top tip when weaning - ice cube trays!

I just cook up a huge batch of carrots (or whatever) and put it into icecube trays to freeze then transfer into a big freezer bag once frozen. I then mix the veg  cubes in a pot for a meal and can gradually increase the amount I give as the weeks go by.

Just done my 4th lot of trays so Ella has enough veg to last her til Christmas now!!

love

Great idea, I have a friend who recommended the same. Do you boil or steam the veg?

Hi Maybe

I steam everything I can and add some of the cooking water from the pan underneath to make it more runny. I have boiled carrots tho and apple and pear, but steamed papaya and butternut squash.

Willl prob boil parsnip but steam everything esle apart from potato.

I used to spend every saturday cooking for DS so now I'm just cooking a bit extra as we eat it.

love

Hi Kay,

I made some carrot puree and some butternut squash puree this morning :o). I bought fab trays in Boots, slightly bigger than ice cube trays with lids. Sorted out the freezer too. I think I'll make some apple puree this afternoon. Just hope DS likes it all. This morning I gave him come creamy rice with apple (Hipp Organic) and he kept opening his mouth for the next spoonful before swallowing what he had in his mouth!! Only taking a small amount at the moment but I think that will increase dramatically very soon as there is a big difference in how interested he is in just 1 week since starting on solids.
