Hello ladies

Just curious on when you LO's have naps and how long do they sleep for? We dont have a definite wake up time, its usually between 6 and half 8 depending on Matthew. Bed time is 8 at the latest. Me and DH were talking about the boys and we decided that they need a better routine. So im just trying to work out when the best time to have naps are.

On a tuesday and friday i dont get home until 12ish but he will usually sleep in the pushchair/wrap. The thing just now with Alex is he only sleeps for about 15 mins at a time!!!!!

Hey,

Well Finlee tends to wake at 7am Then will go back down around 9am for an hr maybe 2,He will go back down again around 12.30/1pm till around 4pm then will have he's last feed along with a bottle and cuddles then be back in bed for 6-7pm.

I found that if i put him in his gro-bag and puts him in his cot with the moniter on he tends to sleep deeper and longer than if i left him on the sofa or in his buggy as Roo is not the quietest of kids and wakes him up all the time.

This is a routine that he has done himself and i found that as soon as he rubs his eyes,or gets heavy lids i take him up and just puts him down and leaves him to self settle.I had a rough couple of times up and down to him but i left him longer to cry inbetween,(i never left him for more than 5 mins) and now he just goes straight off.

Tanya.

oh wow i didnt think Alex would need that many naps, i only usually get about 2 hrs worth of naps through the day max! and usually thats 15 min cat naps!!!!

I think ill try him having a nap about 10am then half 1 and see how we get on. I try to put Alex in his cot but he worries me a little atm because he can roll onto his tummy and much prefers lying on his front. Id feel much better with an angel care (or something similar) monitor but atm we cant stretch for that.

I wish Alex could settle himself into a routine but atm he constantly seems to be tired, the poor soul even has bags under his eyes!! Hes so bossy already (omg he takes after me) and if he doesnt want to do something WOW do i ever know about it!!! Well he needs more sleep so im going tough mummy and gonna making have naps!

God yh he deffo needs a good few long naps through the day,Do you reakon thats why he gets upset alot coz he's over tired??
What i tend to do is watch him and look for heavy lids, red eyes,if he goes quiet, whingy, rubs eyes etc..If he does then i will put him up and its usually around the same time every day Stef.

Finlee sleeps on his tum and has done from around 7 weeks,As long as you have a good moniter he will be fine,I was real nervous about putting Fin up on his own at first but he was such a grump where he was so tired and everytime he dozed off Riley would wake him up on purpose the little turd,Fist few time i was constantly up and down like whores drawers checking him but i kept waking him up,I then steered away to checking him every 15-20 ins,But now i just leaves him and he wakes up really refreshed and proper happy after a good kip. That way it gives me a chance to have 1 on one with Roo.

I would deffo put him up for naps, you will find he will prob sleep 2-3 hrs and will be much happier.Give it a go.I did find putting Fin upstairs was much better all round for all of us,I still checks him sometimes like today for instance he slep 4 hrs solid and i panicked a bit,But he did have a very unsettled night as he had the farts and kept making himself jump and waking himself up lol.

Let me know how you get on.

Tanya

Hi Stef,

I think routines are really personal and it depends on what suits you. Finn usually has around three naps a day. One late morning, one early afternoon and one late afternoon. He'll sleep for anything from 40 mins to 90 mins but usually only around an hour. For his first nap I'll put him in the cot or moses basket if we're in. His second will usually be in the pushchair or car seat depending what we're doing and the last one I'll cuddle him (it's my favourite part of the day, when he snoozes I have a cuppa and some chocolate!). Finn doesn't even have a bed time - just a bath then a bottle then bed, which is usually around 8pm.

Just do what works for you. Personally I don't want to be a slave to a routine, which is why we only have a very loose one.

Ellie xx
