Hi!

You are his mummy, so what you say should be it, though you have to allow that aunts, grandmas and well meaning friends often see it as their right to be the one to hand out sweets and toys and over indulge little ones.

Not that anyone in my family does it, so my children are a tiny bit deprived!

If it really is an issue and you can say how you feel without causing huge conflict then do so, or suggest she offer him an apple or raisins, or cubes of cheese, you could say he really loves that at the moment. Maybe take the food with you though.

If not then you will have to bite your lip, and just put up with it. Maybe visit AFTER he has had a main meal so he isn't going to miss out on a healthy meal by having too many sweets?

It's actually nice for them to have somewhere to go where treats aren't that limited.  I used to have issues because my mum would spoil them when she used to look after them at her house, but now she comes to us it's easier as the treats just aren't there.  They still get spoilt when we visit her but I control when we go so am still "in control" if you see what I mean.

It gets easier as they get older because they understand the rules are different at different places and he won't badger you so much.
