Up until last week my daughter who had just turned three would hide her dummys all over the house, every time i took it out her mouth another one would magically appear, also she liked to take her bottle to bed with some sugar free juice to bed, enough i said so this is what i did. I discussed with her for a week ( and counted down every day up till then) that on Sunday night we would make a special sparkly bag to put all her dummies in and her bottles in and she would leave it for the dummy fairy, who would take them away and replace them with a little pressie for being a big girl. Also she chose a special normal not sippy big girls cup ( upsy daisy) to put by her bed instead of a bottle

So sunday night i was heartbroken but pround as she kissed her dummies (13 of them from god knows where) goodbye and told them they were now going to the baby hospital for new little babies, then she did the same with her bed bottle (just one). She placed them in the special bag she helped make and went to bed, and she has been fine since, she hasnt even asked for them night or day, she got a jigsaw from the dummy fairy and was chuffed to bits.

Only problem now hahaha is that she wont stop talking now she has no dummy in her mouth and she has went from being a faddy eater who ate very little to now being a bin who scoffs all her meals. I wish i had done it sooner as constanly having the dummy stopped her from communicating as much as she was able. Now she is a regular chatterbox.

Wow, that's great! I talked to DD about father Xmas taking her dummies and leaving presents (she's 3 on 15/11) and she burst in tears.

May try the Dummy fairy and see what her reaction is... Her little friend is getting a sister, so may say that we're passing her dummies on to her??? This saturday all her baby clothes are going to the new baby so I'll be able to gauge her reaction.

Well done to your DD!

Well done.  Sounds like she did really well!

I like the idea of making a special sparkly bag together.

That's great :)

Jack will turn 3 on Christmas Eve, and only has a dummy at night, but we've decided it's about time he stopped using one. We're going to wrap them up and give them to baby Jesus this Christmas - thought it was the perfect opportunity as this is what Christmas is all about after all - a new baby being born, so he can have Jack's dummies lol.

Hope he sleeps that night! :)
