Hi ladies,

Rebecca had her 6 week check up today, although she's 9 weeks, as well as her hospital follow up from her stay in special care, both of which went well. Having the 2, especially on the same day seemed a little pointless, but both insisted they were both necessary.

She now weighs 7lb 12.5 oz and measures 50.5 cm so she is doing well, but is still behind by about 3 weeks, which I suppose makes sense. The hospital wants to see her again in 4 months time to check her again and  the Dr. said at 4 months I should consider weaning her if her weight isn't up, but I mentioned this to my GP as I am not happy doing this until the 6 month guideline and she said it is just that, a guideline and that I should do whatever I feel is right.

My cousin's baby who was prem has also had it suggested that she wean her DS from 4 months and she's in another county, so I am a little confused by this new guideline as Rebecca was not strictly prem and surely a prem baby's digestive is even less prepared for food at 4 months than a term baby. I can't believe Rebecca will be ready in 7 weeks, but as I say I won't be doing it. I had lots of pressure with Samuel when he clearly wasn't ready and I waited until he was 6 months, so definitely won't be listening to anybody other than myself.

Going back to the hospital, where it all happened, was a little emotional and I saw the consultant who did my c-section as well as one of the MWs who looked after me during my stay before Rebecca was born and I just wanted to run up to them and hug them for what they did, but I managed a smile and acted like a sane person. I also came away with a little bump envy, which is pure madness I know, but I do miss being pg in a strange way.

Anyway, that's it really, she's doing really well other than she really is a demanding baby and I barely get anything done during the day as the moment I put her down she 9 times out of 10 screams the house down. She is getting better at night and goes for 3-4 hours before waking and then wakes every 2 hours after that, so I'm getting up about 3 times a night now which is a huge improvement compared to the 6 plus times I was.

Hope everybody else is ok, I see we're still painfully quiet.

Love,
