I've just got back from my stretch and sweep.  Cannot stop crying.  The actual sweep was fine, obviously not a pleasure but wasn't particularly painful.  I cried all the way through the appointment so I might have misunderstood some of this stuff.

The good news is that my cervix is anterior or something.

The bad news is that while the front is open (apparently if you've had one baby it doesn't close) the other end is closed and the babies head whilst it is low down is still quite far off pressing on the cervix.  So MW doesn't think I'll be going into labour anytime soon.  Also she thinks that this baby is back to back (like DD) which may mean that the head won't press on the cervix to start it opening anyway.

I have an induction date booked for 15th November and I can so see this all going the same way as last time (induction, epidural, ventouse and 3rd degree tear) My MW was lovely and I do know that none of this really important in the grand scheme of things but I so wanted to know that my body could do it by itself. I'd like to pretend that I would want to go beyond 42weeks and see if things happen naturally but I just want to meet my baby now and as she's been on the 97th centile god only knows what size she'd come out : )

I know there is a chance that labour could start between now and the 15th but I'm so gutted xxx

sorry to be a moaner : ( xx

I do understand how you feel. Now they are talking about giving me a CS next Thursday I think I'll be disappointed if I have to wait longer. To be honest, although I want to have a natural birth I am dreading it and won't mind if they insist I need a CS, but I feel guilty admitting it. It is hard when your last experience wasn't a good one. I cried on the hospital tour and DH couldn't understand why. I felt like asking him whether he had been there last time!

I'd read up on ways to make baby turn as maybe it can still happen. This is one I saw:

http://www.homebirth.org.uk/ofp.htm

but there will be loads of advise on the net. I'm sitting on my ball leaning forward as I type right now to get baby out of breech position, so we'll see!!!

Lots of luck whatever happens,
Wendy xx

YES ! YES! YES! Your baby can still come out on its own !!!!

Please don't give up just yet! Stay positive, lots of little walks, fresh air, It will happen.

I had a back to back labour with my first and a ventouse delivery but my second was far different and she didn't descend until I was at least 9cms and I actually felt her drop down onto my cervix so please dont despair just yet , you still have time. Baby will come out, it really will.

Im nearing my due date and I know its not ready but second, third labours can get going very very quickly.

Every chance yet honey, stay positive and have a big hug from me.

Would love to give you a big cuddle

Don't despair I have a back to backer too, this is in fact my third!

Although I have not had the best of labours (TBH) the 2nd one was quicker than the 1st, and I never went more than a couple of days over my dates. As my midwife explained no one knows what starts labour off, so just because baby is back to back does not nessasarily mean it will start later. Neither of mine were sitting on cervix when labour began either.

When labour does begin you can help swing the little monkey around..............

I know you have prob read, heard all this but imagine babies spine is like a pendulum and you want that to swing to the front

Try bouncing on the birth ball or leaning over it and waggle bum side to side this encourages baby to swing round (pendulum effect)

Float in the bath tummy down with your arms supporting you or birth pool (apparently best) get some clary sage in it too!

I can swing mine around for short periods only by crawling around on all fours (not easy with SPD) and sleeping on my left side with one leg extended and the other bent. I truely believe now that there is nothing else I can do, and have resided myself to the fact baby will turn about during labour as the other 2 did.

Anyway my lovely moan away!! Thats why we are here

Sorry that you are feeling so upset at the moment. Have a big ((((hug)))). Better? I hope so.

Just go along with it hun and you never know your baby could come before induction. Just because you went through it last time does not mean you have to this time.

My DD was back to back and although difficult I didn't need forceps (almost) and had a 2nd degree tear.

Use all the tips given to you to try and get baby to turn and good luck!
