Message: i think it's 24 hours in the fridge and not in the fridge door as that's warmer but in the main part of the fridge. you can freeze for 3 months in a freezer. You can mix the milk for a feed but I dont know about mixing it before that as i guess it has a different time.
I used breastmilk bags, freezing an ounce at a time so that you dont have to defrost and waste a whole bottle. also the bags dont take up any room, are really easy to write on and already sterile. i expressed into a bottle or the container that comes with the pump and then split it across several bags.
hope that helps. well done niamh ;)

Message: thank you for that:) i think i might see if asda do the bags next time i go. im hoping that eventually df will be able to do one of the night feeds to give me a bit of a break as shes running me ragged at the mo! but clearly its paying off with her weight gain. i think the main thing we need to crack now is getting her to happily sleep in her bed as she hates it right now and is only happy when feeding from me or being held by me or df if shes full.

Just to add Boots do boxes of 40 breastmilk storage bags, think its about £6.99 a pack.

You can add to bottles in the freezer/fridge. For example if you froze 2 oz in a bottle in the freezer, you could add another 2 oz but you must put it in the fridge to cool down first. However i would recommend the bags as they are more versatile. I used to use bottles as I donated milk to a milk bank last time and they supplied the bottles. You can also top up the bags in the fridge but make sure the milk is chilled first.

Congratulations on Niamh being back to her birth weight and on expressing - there is a technique to it so it gradually gets quicker and easier. Did you feel like moooing whilst doing it?
