I've had a look at a few websites and I keep seeing that a reading of 140/90 is deemed to be high and yours is much lower than this, but I'm not a medical specialist.

Clearly they want to keep an eye on it if they think it's increasing more than they'd like it to be - were you rushing about before the appointment today or particularly stressed ?

As for the measurements of your fundal height - I had a friend with a perfectly healthy baby but loads of amniotic fluid and consequently a huge bump. I nearly got sent for a growth scan (due to lack of growth) as they struggled to find a 1cm increase each week, yet I ended up with 9lb of baby inside me somewhere. Again, they need to do a scan to check that all is well, but it could come down to how baby chose to lie when the measurements were done. Becky used to disappear inside me and my bump would collapse if I lay on my back !

Let us know what happens on Wednesday and if they are still showing concern, ask them to bring the scan forward or arrange another one.

Hi Dizzy,

To be honest i'm confused as to why they've told you that's a high reading. It's perfectly normal! Mine has ranged from 110/55 up to 130/70 and my Obstetrician has recorded them as perfect everytime.

It's obviously the 76 that they're referring to as it's jumped up from 60 and this is the one they are mainly concerned with but it's still in normal range. At least they're closely monitoring you and it's not a bad thing they're going to check it incase it continues to rise.

I hope it settles back to your 'normal' reading and that satisfies them. Don't worry about it though as that will make it high for your next test! As Kathy said 140/90 is when they start to worry.

Let us know how you get on. Also, did they use a manual machine or the electronic one? Every time i had it taken by the electronic one it was ALWAYS higher so we now always use the manual one.

Love,
Joanne xx

Hi Kathy,

Yep I had googled and found that too but the midwife said that if it goes up by more than 15 from your booking in appointment it's high for you and as it's gone up by 16 they need to keep an eye on it.

I wasn't particularly rushing as I had the car so didn't have to walk 25 mins to get to the appointment and I wasn't particularly stressed as I left DS with Mum. In fact I was more stressed at my last appointment 3 weeks ago as DS was jumping on the scales, washing his hands and generally causing havoc!

As for the fundal measurement I am not too worried about that as I know it's not very accurate but sh said if it is a big baby then I would b better of not having a home birth and if I have to go to hospital I think I'll be panicking they I'll end up giving birth en route as once I'd had my waters broke DS arrived only 3 hours later.

HI joanne,

Thanks, as I said to Kathy it's because it's gone up by over 15 that they are concerned. The thing is every time it has been 110/60 even the appointment that my DS was messing about at except once when it was 108/62 to not much fluctuation at all.
