Hi ladies,

We bought a new house about a month ago and move in on December 14th. I'm really excited but stressed at the same time lol! DH works away ALOT and is going to be home from December 9th - 21st so good timing but he won't be available from Dec12th -21st anyway (apart from the evenings) so not really going to be much of a help unfortunately. Luckily my parents are coming over from the UK November 15th - December 20th so i will have extra hands and will be taking full advantage of it!! Bless them.....holiday?? What holiday?? ;-)

We also decided not to sell our house and see how we'd go renting it out and i'm pleased to say we had 4 groups of people through last night for an inspection and one of them has signed up today for a 12 month lease moving in on December 18th, yippee!!! That is such a weight off our minds. They had glowing references and he is an Anglican Priest (or do you call them Reverends??) so hopefully they'll be good tenants :-) i met them before i left the agent with them and they're lovely and also English.

I sometimes wonder if i'm mad doing all this while pregnant but to be honest i think it has helped having another focus given i'm such a stress head and if i'd only had the pg to think about that could've been dangerous!

Once we're in the new house i can start on the renovations, haha!!

I'm going away with DH from December 21st - January 8th though so can look forward to some relaxation time once the move is out of the way.

Just thought i'd share some general 'life news' rather than my usual pg worries for a change :-)

Love,
Joanne xx

I have to laugh....during treatment we started getting a new kitchen and our flat has been a building site since!!!! Joiner just left........doing the 'nursery' nothing like leaving it last minute -eh!!!!!

I do think that it has helped me keep my mind of pregnancy worries -just wish we had finished a month earlier-lol!!!!

Enjoy the new house and having your parents over.

Love

How exciting that you've bought a new house. Is it near where you live now ? You mention renovations - is there a lot of work that needs doing ?

Yes, moving house is ... stressful ! I did it 3 times in less than 18 months and have no intentions to do it again in the near future. Are you going to get packers to pack things for you ? Yes, it's expensive, but it saves so much time and if things get broken, then they have to replace them. It's handy that your parents will be there to help out.

How fantastic that you've had so much interest in renting out your current place. You really would think that an Anglican Priest is hardly likely to be a riotous tenant ! I was exceptionally lucky when I rented my flat out years ago and had great tenants - I'd heard loads of horror stories of tenants stripping the place and mine just left things !

Where are you and DH going to for Christmas/New Year ?

Hi Kathy,

It's just 2 suburbs away so i'd say 2 miles from where we are now, not far at all.

It's an old character style home and the current owners did a huge extension on the back and put a second storey on but the middle of the house (guest rooms, bathroom and laundry) were left pretty much untouched so i want to gut those out and renovate and we also want to put a pool in. Obviously none of that is vital but we know if we don't don't do it straight away we'll drag our heels so we'll strike while the iron's hot :-)

I wasn't going to get packers but i was going to get cleaners in for when we vacate so we don't have to clean aswell. I may enquire about the packers though. My mam loves that sort of thing so we may be ok but it'll definitely be worth getting a quote for it. Thanks for that tip!

We're going to Melbourne for Christmas and Sydney for New Year (we live in Perth). DH has to go anyway for work and they pay for me to go over with him. I LOVE Melbourne so am VERY excited about it :-)

Yeah i've also heard horror stories about tenants so i'm hoping we've got some good ones here. We're leaving it unfurnished so don't need to worry about any of our 'stuff' but when it's been your home you're naturally emotionally attached to it so we need to try and switch off from all of that.....i can just see me driving past for the first couple of months and checking it out, haha!!
