Elisah has not had a dirty nappy since thursday morning. she's had wet ones but thats it. She had 2 bottles of formula on thursday but none since  (shes bf) but fed well . Do you think there is reason to worry. Shes not been straining or anything so don't think shes constipated and she seems happy enough but she normally has quite a few dirty nappies everyday. Wednesday I had 1 in the morning and 3 in afternoon/ evening.

Shall I just wait to see what happens?  Or is there anything I can do to help her out?

hi Becky,

As both mines have been FF im not sure im much help, however i know that FF babies can go a day or two without pooping, not sure about BF/MF babies though. Cool boiled water is normally whats recommended for constipated babies, you could always try giving her a few oz 2-3 times a day, wont do any harm.

Hi

Sorry to poke my nose in, i usually post on mums due oct 09.  My lo is now 6 weeks old and the hv was here the other day and she told me once bf was established it is completely normal that you don't have a dirty nappy every day.  i am pleased she told me because i would have panicked as well.

Hope this is some help.

Glad she's had a dirty nappy, the description sounds like Allanah's nappy when she's had more formula than breast feeds, she's can go upto two days without a dirty nappy, apparently it's normal and the formula will change the consistancy and frequency of nappies.
FF nappies really smell bad when compared with BF ones.

As long as she's not straining then it's probably the formula.
