Message: I'm a bit concerned that I might be pregnant....It would be very early if I was as I've not missed a period yet. I'm getting some symptoms;sore breasts, nausea, period-like pains and thick white discharge. It's too early to take a test and my period is about 1.5 weeks away. We had unprotected sex and for the first few times put a condom on half way through but then the last few times he's just withdrawn. Silly. I know the chances of getting pregnant from precum are very slight as the only way sperm is present in the precum is if there is sperm still in the urethra from previous ejaculation and that urine will wash out any stragglers! However, now I'm thinking about it and getting myself into a bit of a panic something is unsettling me a lot....we had sex, he came....we then did it again about an hour later. So the chances are there was sperm present that time increasing the chances. I've only been seeing this guy for a few weeks so it's nothing serious. I'm 25, have a good stable job and a secure home so I know I could support the baby, but I don't want to be a single mum! :-(

Hi Lucid and welcome to the board

Whilst it's possible you could be pregnant, the only way to tell is to take a pregnancy test. I know it'll be a tough few days to wait until your period is due before you can test, but personally I think the chances are slim that you are pregnant. Put it this way, I'd put money on you not being pregnant rather than you being pregnant!

Let us know how you get on. In the meantime try really hard not to focus too much on it (hard I know!) because the worry can delay your period and make you more worried!

Thanks Madcat. You putting money on me not being pregnant is very comforting! I'm still feeling worried and there now seems to be a pink tinge to my discharge. I'm not sure if this is a sign of anything...?

I'm going to take a pregnancy test over the weekend, it might be a bit early but I feel like I should do something. Either way I think it'd be wise to book myself in for STI testing :-(

Hi lucid

It's natural to be worried. The pink tinge could be an implantation bleed but it could also be cervix erosion after sex (ahem, if it was a bit energetic IYSWIM!) or all sorts of other things. If you feel pain or anything like that then I'd see your GP straight away though just in case. I'm no medical expert and I'm sure you would feel more reassured speaking to a professional.

By all means take a test, I know I did with my DD 4 days early (First Response) and it came up +ve. But if it comes up -ve then test again a few days later when your period is due just to make sure. And if it's still -ve and your period hasn't turned up then again, please see your GP.

An STI check is no bad thing.

I'm not sure that is going to help you at all, but neither is me lying to you hun. I really hope you get whatever result you're after. And remember we'll be here for you when you have the result, OK?

Big hugs, take care and look after yourself
