Hi,

I am new to this board, although i used to post to TTCAL having had four MCs over the last 2 years. Two and a half years of ttc hasn't worked so I am now starting to panic....I hope someone might be able to help me with my question...

I have recently started to try OPKs as I've been worried that i might not be ovulating. I had a 21 day blood test back in Feb or March, which was fine. However, my last cycle was 40 days (normally 31) and I had absolutely no physical sign of ov at all, (wasn't using kits then though.) I also had no PMT, most unusual for me, although when AF did arrive it was quite heavy, (sorry tmi!!) .

This month, though, I started to get signs of ov at CD10 - some EWCM, a bit of stomach pain on one side, migraine, sore bbs - all the things I would normally get. I didn't start my OPKs until yesterday, CD14, because that's what the kit advised based on my normal cycle length. Yesterday I had a line that was almost the same colour as the test line, then today it was a bit lighter. When I looked this up on the internet it said if you consistently get a 50% colour line this could be a sign of a problem with elevated hormone levels.

Obviously i need to keep testing for a few more days - and I guess months - to see if this is a consistent problem, but I have already started to freak out. Could it be that I did ovulate earlier in the week and 'missed' my surge with the OPK, and now it's on the way down?

Any advice would be so gratefully received!

Fairy girl

(P.S I've had tons of bloods done - lupus, clotting, auto-immune probs etc etc - all fine. Only thing left is genetic incompatibility with DP...)

Hi

Welcome to the board!

I'm so sorry to hear of your 4 m/c. I had 1 last year and know how heartbreaking it is, but 4 must be very hard to get your head around. Are all the blood tests you mention part of recurrent m/c investigations? If not, you may consider asking to be referred to a recurrent m/c clinic for further tests.

It's actually not unusual for women to have 1 or 2 anovular cycles each year so it might be you've atually used OPKs on one of those months. It's really only a problem if you don't ovulate on a regular basis, but most doctors don't consider the occasional month to be an issue.
