Hiya ladies,

Thought I'd come over and say hi as we've been trying for baby no 2 for a year this week. Our first daughter was a natural miracle so I'm not all that surprised to be here! A brief intro: I'm Ali, 25 years old. We started ttc no 1 in Nov 05 and were referred pretty quickly as I hadn't had a period in 18months. I was diagnosed with pcos and high prolactin levels. After this they tested DH and we were told that he only had 4% morphology. They told us that ICSI was our only option, which to say we were gutted about is a bit of an understatement!

We then spent the best part of a year saving like mad, even renting a cheaper flat! I also joined a slimming group as well as taking agnus castus and having reflexology. Over Christmas 2006 I felt pretty rough and when I still felt crap 3 weeks later we did a test just to rule it out and couldn't believe it when we saw 2 lines!!! After an awful pregnancy (placenta praevia and pre eclampsia) Our little girl arrived a day early in September. She really is amazing and I'm truly thankful!!!

We started trying for no 2 when she was only 8 weeks old, mostly because we expected it to be difficult and we were right! A year later and still not pregnant again. I'm ok with it, staying much saner this time around, mostly as I am so busy! I am the heaviest I have ever been which I know isn't helping so I started a diet this week, as well as recently starting on the agnus castus again. Can't afford reflexolgy and ICSI defo isn't an option this time around so I guess we'll just keep trying the romantic way and see what happens. WE know we've had it relatively easy compared to some couples and that we're very lucky to have our dd.

Looking forward to getting to know you all

Hi Ali

Welcome to TFAB1+!

It's so nice to hear of natural miracle stories like yours. You never know though, even though you've now been ttc#2 over a year, it could well happen again. Have you been to your GP to have any more tests done, just in case anything has changed since last time round?

I strongly believe that diet can make a big difference, especially for improving mens sperm. If either of you smoke or drink then try to stop. And really go through what you eat with a fine tooth comb. Make sure you're eating lots of good quality protein to help get quality eggs and if you can afford to buy organic food, then do so when you can.

Good Luck!

Love

Thanks for the welcome!

We've just made an appointment to see our GP but have moved since all our last tests and apparently our area doesnt use a specialist andrology lab so we've also made an appointment for a private SA to be done. Its always difficult to get my tests done though as my cycles have no pattern whatsoever. I can vary anything from 6 weeks to 2 years between them but usually about 12-16 weeks! Last time I just had day 3 bloods done.

I agree completely about the diet thing! I am 110% convinced that its the diet that did it for us last time. We started eating healthy organic food 4 months before I concieved. I dont think its a coincidence personally!!! We're eating some organic food, mostly what we eat a lot of as money is definately tighter now than it was pre baby! Neither of us smoke so no worries there and I dont drink but DH has cut down so that he only has it when he goes out and that isnt very often. We dont have it in the house now to avoid the temptation.

Hoping that it is easier this time around! Would be nice but I'm just so happy to have my little girl and if she's all were blessed with then I'll still be happy with that, although like most parent I would love to give her a sibling!

Ali
