hey y'all

having all of these three tomorrow and am feeling a little overwhelmed...

not worried about the op, i was supposed to have lap and dye done in august,  but i had a cyst which needed removing so no investigative work was done. i know and trust my consultant and his team, i'm just terrified about the results...

dh and i had a long talk before saying that we didn't think that ivf was for us as we are both in our mid 30s  and we felt like f we tried ivf and it didn't work it be too late to adopt a young child...

but i;m terrified that tomorrow could be the end of the line for us...

i know there isn't anything anyone can do, i just have to keep my fingers crossed and see

but i feel so worried

i just wantde to get my feelings down instead of swirling round my head

Hi DD

Just wanted to wish you all the best. I had exactly the same procedure done in Aug 08, and remember feeling exactly the same, however when I came round and the consultant came to see me they informed me that my tubes were fine, that I'd had some endometriosis lasered off, and some uterine polyps removed, and that the chances of conceiving naturally within the next couple of months were extremely good. I really hope that it's a similar case for you, and I would say don't worry, even if they do find something, it'll probably be something that they can deal with and will give you a better chance.

Unfortunately for me natural conception didn't happen, and on my follow up appointment on Christmas eve last year, I was prescribed clomid which I had along with follicle scans and ovulation induction injections (really far more straightforward than it sounds - scan shows follicle is ready to ovulate and then injection makes you ovulate). I fell pregnant at the second cycle in February last year and my baby is due next Wednesday, oh and I'm now 41 years old, so I hope that gives you some hope ;-) You are doing all you can, and time is on your side.

I really hope it all goes well, and even if you don't get the best news, it doesn't mean that there won't be other options open to you.

Much love and big hugs

Hi DD

Sorry I didn't see this post in time to wish you good luck. How did you get on?

I'm also in my mid 30s (well, 36 to be precise) and after multiple failed IVFs was also starting to worry about the fact that if I didn't stop soon then I'd be too old to adopt an under 2 year old. However, I finally got my elusive BFP earlier this year on my 7th IVF and am now 29 weeks pregnant! So us oldies CAN do it! And also, it's very unusual for it to take as many IVFs as I had - I was a particularly awkward case! I think that if you do need IVF then your main issue will be NHS waiting list times as you probably don't have time on your side to wait several years to get to the top of the list. So if you can afford to go private, then it's something to seriously consider. However, hopefully it won't come to that!

Love

Hi Sarah

thanks for your message.

things didn't go too well...they procedure was simple and my uterus is fine, but both tubes are so blocked they didn't bother doing the dye test, and said only options are ivf or adoption. I know its no the end of the world and that both are good options but i feel devastated, especially as my earlier apt with consultant post my laparotomy had said thast balthought the left side was scarred the right side looked ok.

i don't really know that much about ivf...would it be ok if i asked you some of the particulars about it as you sound like the expert...

thank you

Shama
