Hi all

I am Lisa and mum to 7 wonderful children aged between 10 weeks and 15 years. My youngest Harry was 10lb 11oz at birth and had a very traumatic delivery because he got stuck by his shoulders and then his stomach. This week he has been in hospital this week after a infection. They did not find out where his infection but he had to have a lumber puncture to rule out meningitis which it wasn't luckily. Anyway while he was in hospital it was picked up that he was very floppy, mainly on the right hand side and also his shoulders. This had been picked up previously by GP (and was waiting an appointment to be checked) although HV and Mw disagreed. They have refered him for weekly physio which they have said he will need for months if not years. They cannot tell us at this stage the long term effects of this. They have said to expect him to have delayed physical development. All my other children have always been advanced and done everything quicker than average so not sure what to expect from Harry.

looking forward to getting to know you all and a big hello to Kate (cl-katypyee) I am stalking you!

Love to all love Lisa and Harry xxx

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the board! I was hoping you would find us here - was going to suggest coming along here for a chat.

It is a quiet board but supportive and am sure there will be other ladies on here who have been through what you are going through right now and will be able to give you some advice.

I found this board really useful when Lydia wasn't walking. It is hard not to compare your baby to others (or in your case your other children) especially if they don't do things as quickly as expected. I certainly learned this with Lydia.

You and Harry will find the physio a great help. It is helping Lydia lots and though she is now walking, her left foot turns out slightly and she is flat footed but the physio is keeping an eye on it. She also still has difficulty picking things up from the floor and getting up off the floor if she is in the middle of the room so for her mobility she is delayed which sounds like Harry could be. But he may not be now he will be getting treatment. The earlier the physio starts the better. Lydia's physio comes to our home now which is great as they can observe in their home environment. So it may be worth asking about this after your initial consultation.

Am sure you are finding it difficult at the moment but Harry will be fine and just take each day as it comes.

It may be worth looking through some of the older posts on this board as I know there are some posts about 'floppiness'.

Take care Lisa and you know where I am if you need a chat!
